Typical Health Decline Story

woman inpecting supplement bottleLet me tell you a story about a patient I once knew. We will call this patient Bill. Bill had a normal childhood filled with PB and J on wonder bread and Oreo cookies. He was as healthy and happy as could be. He went on to college then married and had children. Then one day Bill woke up and just wasn’t the person he used to be. He had gotten a little fatter, a lot lazier, not as motivated and not as happy. But what happened? Bill wasn’t sick and didn’t do anything different than he had in the years prior to this decline. Bill was just tired.

Oddly enough that was the problem. Bill was tired and so was his body. You see when we are young and active our bodies are strong and able to take on the challenges we give it on a daily basis. We can turn that PB and J into energy in a jiffy. Unfortunately the body can only handle so much abuse before it starts to break down.

Think of Bill’s body as a high performance race car when he was a child. He was giving his car 87 octane and it was still able to run, not as good as it could have, but run none the less. After years of abuse and neglect his body is no longer able to run with the same subprime fuel that worked when he was younger.

So what is bill to do? Sure enough, making a serious change in his diet and eat better will help his situation, but there are still dysfunctions that have taken years to manifest. These issues will not be corrected by eating a carrot.

It is five years down the road and Bill is now fat and bald, has no energy, but can’t sleep at night, is moody and just not happy in general. Bill’s Dr. tells him that he has Syndrome X and his cholesterol is too high. Bill’s wife tells him he has Syndrome L (lazy) and his pant size is too high. So what is Bill to do? Bill needs a clean slate. He needs to be shown the path to undo all of the harm that he has done to his body over the years and he needs to do so now.

Functional medicine is the answer for Bill. Function medicine is the practice of discovering the root cause of disease and using natural mechanisms to treat the underlying dysfunction and not mask the symptoms with medications or drugs. Functional medicine uses advanced medical testing to discover the cause of the body’s dysfunctions, not just the symptoms of this dysfunction such as high blood sugar and high cholesterol. With this knowledge, the cause of the dysfunction can be halted.

Utilizing lifestyle and dietary changes the advancement of Bills dysfunction can be stopped. With the aid of the most exciting scientifically researched cellular bases neutraceuticals the world has ever seen you and your Dr. can actually reverse the damage that a lifetime of exposure to inadequate foods, environmental toxins, physical inactivity and overall neglect to ones wellbeing can lead to.

Function medicine is most definitely the answer for Bill, is it the answer for you too? Come learn more about what functional medicine has to offer you at one of our upcoming seminars …..

See you soon and be well,
