What is Diabetes? An interesting Tale...

enjoying watermelonThere was once a cell who was happy as could be

He took in sugar and made energy

He took small pieces of sugar with delight

And he broke it down from morning to night

Then one day something new came about

He ran out of the products which had helped him out

He had no vitamin B of coenzyme Q 10

He found that he had no more magnesium

He could no longer break down the sugars that came

Though he tried and he tried he still came up lame

Then one day this cell said this is too much

So he stopped letting in new sugar with a huff

But the body in which he lived said this can not be

The sugar in my blood is too high, yes indeed

So it gave that cell a shot all right

More insulin will surely pack that cell tight

That will push that sugar into the cell with great might

So the cell did take in more sugar to store

But no energy was made because its tools were no more

Without the vitamins it needed to break sugar down

The cell became cluttered and turned upside down

Then once again the cell said no more

I will not respond to your insulin, no I won’t, I’ll ignore

Again the body was not happy with this up rise

The sugar was building and in the blood did it arise

So it packed in the sugar everywhere it could go

In the liver, yes that is a good place to store

But the liver filled quickly and quickly said no more

I am busy so you can do your own chore

Then the body found nooks and crannies to fill

I will pack it in fat, oh yes that I will

So it packed and it packed but the packing was to slow

And again the blood sugar started to grow.

Then the Dr stepped in and said this will not roll

Your sugar has grown well out of control

Look you can see that your sugar is high

Your A 1 C is now six point five

We must get it down and I know what to do

We will give you metformin and stop sugars from formin’

But the body was addicted to this sugar you see

And just couldn’t stop itself from eating donuts with its tee

So again the sugar rose to the top

And the Dr said I must make this all stop

I will now give you Glipizide

That will cause your insulin to quicken

Now that cell will have not choice but to listen

Your cell can go to heck, I will fix this condition

So the cell did listen for a minute or two

But again it said that this just will not do

I have had enough and I can take no more

Take your sugar and sock it my docket is full

So the bloods sugar rose and there was nothing to do

It damaged the body but without the tools

That the body and cell needed how did it pool

About the nerves and the liver now sugar did rule

And how this story ends is now up to you.

You see that you have the power to end this story how you feel fit.

If you have Diabetes of Syndrome X then you can choose to make it quit.

Come and get the help that you need.

Not for me but for you

Cause you need it indeed.
