Adjusting neck on man sitting

Best Chiropractor O’Fallon

At The Wellness Connection, we use the most modern chiropractic, analytical and adjustive procedures and equipment available.

Chiropractic Adjustments Are Essential

When your spinal joints aren’t moving correctly or are out of alignment, they can choke or irritate nearby nerves. Chiropractic adjustments add motion to these stuck joints and help reduce any stress on your nervous system. This allows your body to work with less stress, less interference and gives it the best opportunity for optimal health .

Feels Great

Chiropractic adjustments allow the body to work and move the way it was intended. As well, the adjustments feel great. The vast majority of our patients love how the adjustments feel and enjoy coming in for their corrective and preventative care.

Everyone Benefits

Newborns, infants, children, seniors and even past back surgery patients can get adjusted. Every adjustment is tailored to a person size, age and particular health issue.

Restoring Range Of Motion

While improving spinal movement and alignment can reduce stress on your nervous system, virtually all joints of the body can be adjusted to help restore proper range of motion.

Many Techniques

There are many techniques that can be used to improve motion and alignment of your spine. Our chiropractors can and will modify techniques to maximize patient comfort while still getting great results. Find out about the chiropractic techniques we support and administer :

At The Wellness Connection, we use an adjusting style commonly referred to as “Diversified.”

A Diversified adjustment is characterized by a high-velocity, low amplitude thrust. The objective of a diversified adjustment is to restore proper movement and alignment of the spine. The gentle and specific thrust delivered by the chiropractor usually results in the popping noise associated with a chiropractic adjustment. This noise comes from what is call “a cavitation” of the joint.

There is something called synovial fluid present in your joints that acts as a lubricant. The fluid consists of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide. When you cavitate a joint, you are stretching the joint capsule. The gasses in the synovial fluid are rapidly released, which forms a popping sound.

Once your joint is opened up, the synovial fluids re-lubricate the joint surfaces and normal motion is restored. This is why you’ll typically feel relief after an adjustment.

Thompson Drop-Table Technique, is a chiropractic technique which uses a precision adjusting table along with a weighing mechanism which gives sufficient tension to keep the patient in the “up” position before the thrust or pressure is applied.

Thompson Technique is a specific chiropractic technique which was discovered and developed by Dr. J. Clay Thompson. This technique comprises of a special table with several segments in it known as drop pieces.

These table segments can be lifted up a fraction of an inch, so that upon delivering the thrust, the table drops. This table is known as “Segmental Drop Table,” and it helps in enhancing the motion of the area or segment which is to be adjusted, usually the mid-back, low back and pelvic area.

These drop pieces aid in the thrust thus minimizing the force/pressure required for the adjustment. This is one of the benefits of this technique. This technique (spinal adjusting) usually entails the patient lying face down.

Another important feature of the Thompson Technique is the leg length analysis concept. This concept is used to determine imbalance in the leg lengths with the patient lying in a prone position (face down) on the table.

Other than checking the leg lengths, palpation, X-rays and other suitable tests may be also be used by the chiropractor for determining the area to be adjusted.

The Pettibon System is an advanced scientific approach to chiropractic that many patients have not experienced. This system focuses on spine and posture correction. The Pettibon System is one of a handful of techniques that use “pre” and “post” testing to demonstrate to the patient the positive changes in their posture and spinal conditions. Actually helping a person correct the problem versus just providing temporary relief.

Unique to the Pettibon System is the focus on strengthening postural muscles and building endurance. This is an ongoing process and to accomplish this goal, patients use various pieces of equipment in the clinic and special rehabilitation equipment 1-2 times a day at home. It is this combination of “in office” and “at home care” that creates long-lasting results.

The Top Reasons People Consult Our Practice

Obvious Spinal Problems & Issues
Most people associate chiropractic care with headaches, neck and back problems.

Our interest in the spine is because it houses the nervous system that carries vital communications between your brain and your body.

Visceral or Organic Complaints
Some consult our practice for “non-back” health problems. If the patient has nerve interferences, chiropractic care may help, for example we’ve had personal experiences with those suffering from bedwetting, asthma, colic and even stomach problems.

Natural And Drug Free Health Care
Those who wish to avoid drugs or surgery will often visit our practice first.

Chiropractic care is a safe, natural approach to better health.
